Same problem here with same version of Ubuntu and tex-common.
Solved it by removing tex-common (along with all dependant packages) and reinstalling everything.

Don't know if it is a solution per se.

The DpkgTerminalLog says :

Setting up tex-common (2.06ubuntu0.1) ...

Please include this file if you report a bug.

could you reproduce the problem and include the mentioned updmap log file ?

Marked Bug #760709, and Bug #762483 as duplicates as their logs also say that updmap-sys failed. The root reasons can be verified only if the updmap-sys logs are attached.

Well, that 'fangsong.map' locates in ~/.texmf-var/fonts/map/dvips/CJK
and never brought up any errors before. but now, where should I put it?
