Bug Description

Binary package hint: tellico

I have a problem with importing data from Audio-CD. The menu "File/Importing from Audio-CD" is greyed and I can't import artist, title etc. from CDDB as is described in the handbook.

And I have the problem taht an error message is displayed when I select the menu "Help/handbook".

Greetings

The Ubuntu package must not be compiled with kdemultimedia support. To check for sure, try running

ldd `which tellico` | grep kcddb

If Tellico was linked to the KCDDB library, you'll see some output. On my machine, I see
        libkcddb.so.1 => /opt/kde3/lib/libkcddb.so.1

As for the handbook, are you running under GNOME? I've heard of people having issues seeing the handbook when the KDE desktop isn't running, and I've not been able to figure it out yet.

Hi Robby,

thank you for your quick answer!

I'm afraid I am a bloody beginner with Ubuntu.

I tried your "ldd `which tellico` | grep kcddb" (exactly that) in the
terminal and I got no reply at all.

Whether the package is compiled with kdemultimedia support I have no
clue. I installed the package from the general Ubuntu packages.

And I'm running Tellico under GNOME.

Greetings

Since the ubuntu package doesn't appear to be compiled with support for audio-CD information, there's no way to get it to work. You'd either have to compile it yourself, or find a different ubuntu package. Sorry.

You might want to forward your request to the ubuntu packagers. I don't know how that system works myself.

Same with me. Since update from Hardy to Intrepid Ibex I'm not able to import audio-cd-data.

same problem... more than this Audacious can't play audio cd as before. The problem appeared after upgrading from 8.04 to 9.04. With The Intrepid Ibex I can't import cds with Tellico and can'0t use the audacious CD plugin...

Even worse... I use ubuntustudio and the real time kernel is really instable in this version, so I had to install the generic kernel... maybe they were too hurry?...

Hi puppet!

Until yesterday there was no solution in sight. In Karmic the newest release of Tellico (2.0) is not included and with the 1.3.5 release the amazon search is not available any more.

But I found out that the new release is in a ppa at https://launchpad.net/~mieszkoslusarczyk/+archive/kde-extras-snapshots. I added this repository to my software packeges (I'm not sure about this term because I use Ubuntu in german; it is "Software-Paketquellen" there). I then updated Tellico in Synaptic and:

It works absolutely fine!!!

Not only the CD-import is o.k., the amazon internet search works as well.

Hi Kibuntu!

It works! Of course you have to set the cd device correctly ("cdrom1" instead of the default "cdrom" in my case) but it definitely works now!

So I think this confirm the fact that it was a Tellico bug/problem, and not a Ubuntu one

I love you and all the f**king great Linux comunity!

FYI, the latest version of tellico-2.1 is available at https://launchpad.net/~dominik-stadler/+archive/ppa

I marked this Bug duplicate of Bug #434372 as that one requests tellico-2.1 to be added in the next release, this would solve any remaining issue discussed here as well as far as I see.
