Bug Description

Binary package hint: telepathy-sofiasip

There is a known incompatibility between the sofiasip library used by empathy for SIP tlephony and the ekiga.net SIP server. However, Empathy on both Jaunty and Intrepid offers a preset for Ekiga.net, leading to user to believe that it should work. This preset should be removed until the issue is resolved.

If you have a public IP, ekiga.net does work with telepathy-sofiasip. But unfortunately not if you're behind NAT. This problem is known upstream.

Adding this to the papercuts project, as simply removing the preset could remove a lot of irritance with users, especially since empathy might become the default IM client in Karmic.

Of course, in the mid-term, it would be better if the base problem was solved.
