telepathy-butterfly fails to start chat with a contact more than once

When clicking on a contact in the list in empathy, a chat window is opened. However, when you close the window, it cannot be reopened for that same contact. Selecting another contact works, but also only once. This doesn't happen with telepathy-haze.
