Bug Description

Binary package hint: sysvinit

This has been done in debian already. This could give the base for fixing bug #42121 and #151580 (and possibly others as well).

Still I'm asking for advice of hte sysvinit maintainers if that patch is
appropriate for uploading. If you think yes, then I'll upload it after
the beta release.

unmounting cifs shares on reboot/shutdown is still a problem on Hardy with the new package as in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sysvinit/+bug/42121

never mind, i see now that it was not installed. aptitude full-upgrade did not pick it up!

How are we to apply this fix in Hardy if sysvinit would upstage upstart?

the fix is in the initscripts binary package, which is built from the sysvinit source package. It has nothing to do with the sysvinit binary package.

in that case, sorry to say, i am still experiencing the timeout issue related when cifs shares have not been manually unmounted prior to reboot/shutdown on Hardy (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/42121). [should i confine my discussion to bug 42121?]
