This occurs [for me] with an update to the sysvutils package. Being that I typically try to have the "latest and greatest" on my machine, I decided I'd try deinstalling the "System-V-like utilities" and then reinstalling [maybe even pulling in this latest update. Welp, I encountered this dialogue on my removal attempt:
[Package Dependencies Cannot Be Resolved]
...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

adduser: Depends: perl-base (>= 5.6.0) but 5.14.2-6ubuntu2.3 is to be installed
         Depends: passwd (>= 1:4.0.12) but 1:4.1.4.2+svn3283-3ubuntu5.1 is to be installed
libsm6: libxaw7: openoffice.org-core: Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1-21) but 1:4.6.3-1ubuntu5 is to be installed
openssh-client: procps: Depends: upstart-job but it is a virtual package
upstart: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.9) but 2.15-0ubuntu10.4 is to be installed
         Depends: libudev0 (>= 151) but 175-0ubuntu9.4 is to be installed

So, not only can I not update the package; Removal is futile as well it seems.
