Bug Description

Let's try with fresh install: Kubuntu 20.04.1 with default installer options + all packages updated, upgraded, systemsettings package version 4:5.18.4.1-0ubuntu1:

- Go to System Settings -> Online Accounts
- Click + Add new Account
- Choose Google
- Window "Web authentication with google" pops up
- Enter the email, click Next
- Enter the password, click Next
- Enter 2FA code from the authenticator, click Next

Expected result:
- Google account is added, or some sort of confirmation/error

Actual result:
- Window title with title "Web authentication with google", buttons (menu, min, max, close), and borders are OK
- Window content is empty (white canvas)
- Nothing happens - Google account is not added

I have encountered the same problem while using Cisco AnyConnect. Found out that it is libwebkit2gtk related. It seems it can't cope with wayland. Does it work if you launch with

# WAYLAND_DISPLAY=no gnome-control-center ?

@Marc: How can gnome-control-center be an affected package of a Kubuntu bug?

yeah, if fact it is not a gnome-control-center bug, but a problem with libWebKit2gtk-4.0 under Wayland. This affects both, Kubuntu as well as stock Ubuntu (also in 21.04, which I use).

no longer affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)

I am not using Wayland (verified by multiple ways from https://askubuntu.com/questions/904940/how-can-i-tell-if-i-am-running-wayland and https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/202891/how-to-know-whether-wayland-or-x11-is-being-used ). I tried the reproduction again and the problem persists. I have package libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37 installed.

The same happens on Kubuntu 22.04.2, but I've found a workaround: after the MFA step the empty window is shown, right-clicking into it and choosing the "Reload" permission page is shown and the process could continue.
