Bug Description

I use kubuntu, a relatively recent install of 18.04.
It is impossible to change default application settings. Changing from kMail to Thunderbird is possible, just as from whatever to Chrome. I click 'Apply', and when I go back, nothing has been saved, but the previous settings show up again.

Always when I start Chrome, it tells it is not the default browser. Then I click to make it the default browser. Though next time starting, it tells me once again it is not the default browser.

This is not really dangerous, but annoying.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 18.04 (bionic) reached end-of-standard-support on May 31, 2023.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when using a currently supported release of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.
