As the error says, please don't create group "input" as an user group, it needs to be a system one. It's probably best to do "sudo delgroup input" and then "sudo apt-get -f install" to clean up the failed upgrade.

I did not create the input group. Perhaps another installed package...? I had the same problem when upgrading from 15.04 to 15.10.

i am having the same problem updating udev

i tried sudo delgroup input just incase it fixed it but when updating i get the following then it looks like it hangs here:

Setting up udev (225-1ubuntu9.1) ...
Adding group `input' (GID 145) ...
Done.

but it never actually finishes postinst

i am unsure why, but after rebooting and running

sudo dpkg --configure -D 777 udev

the update completed

running
sudo dpkg --configure -D 777 udev
before rebooting did not work
