Bug Description

I want closing the lid of my laptop to have no effect. No lock, no suspend, no action. I set "HandleLidSwitch=ignore" as described here:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/363795/closing-laptop-lid-suspends-lubuntu-since-upgrade

But what happens is when I close the lid, the system locks and compiz crashes. Please let me know what logs I should provide.

Which Ubuntu release and desktop are you using? (Pretty please file bugs with "apport-bug", it makes things a lot easier). You mention the Lubuntu FAQ, but also a compiz crash. Lubuntu doesn't use compiz.

ubuntu-settings-daemon and gnome-settings-daemon have proper logind integration (they set logind's inhibitors for handling the lid switch); that bit might be missing in LXDE.

Ubuntu desktop 13.10. "HandleLidSwitch=ignore" is supposed to work in both Lubuntu and Ubuntu AFAIK.

I can't use apport-bug as I do not know what sort of sensitive information is collected by that tool. I would rather report data manually for the sake of security.

It shows you what it's going to send before you click on "send".

Ah, gotcha. I can't reproduce the compiz crash bug, but the lid switch is still causing events to occur. What happens now is that when I close the lid of my laptop, the unity bar pops out from the side where it was previously hidden. Running firefox in full screen mode on external display. The desired action is for nothing to happen when I close the lid of my laptop.

Thanks!
