At login, I get several reports about programs failing to start and so on. Unity never comes to life and all I have is my desktop. I can right click and all, but I have no menus or whatsoever.

My fresh install of 11.10 alpha 2 worked great until I did a aptitude safe-upgrade for about an hour ago.
