We have two options for an 'easy' fix:
1) Install sysstat from your desired package manager
2) Delete the cron.d entry named /etc/cron.d/sysstat

I theorize we're all installing and uninstalling sysstat (with unclean script removal.)

This issue is causing system freeze and unresponsive keyboard and mice, with no display.
Using sysstat 11.2.0-1ubuntu0.1 on 16.04 LTS with 4.10 kernel.

Removed it to solve the freeze problem.

Could some developer check this please.

Hi Ankit,
there is no default SA1_OPTIONS entry for ages that could cause the original issue.
So the bug is solved a long time ago.
Also I have sysstat on plenty of servers and none mails me about that.
I checked once more if the mails might be queued but they just don't get created.

Thanks for the ping as this is really solved a long time ago.

I'd assume your issue with unresponsive key/mice and such is a different issue.
At least it is a different bug than the one reported here back in 2009.

You could open a new bug to discuss your (probably different) issue.
When doing so please directly attach the /etc/default/sysstat
And since you say it hangs I'd asusme that the regular runs cause some sort of cpu-hog.
It would be great if you could let run something like this for 25 minutes and attach.
We would see the sadc spiking there.
 $ pidstat 5
In terms of general system check since we can't rely on systat you could use and attach a report of the same time with "dstat -tvin"
Open a new bug with all that and feel free to subscribe me right away.
With that data we can start to make theories, but it is not this old issue here.
