Bug Description

(Sorry if this is the wrong place for this bug report.)

Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1 AMD64+Mac <http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/oneiric/beta-1/ubuntu-11.10-beta1-alternate-amd64+mac.iso>
Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1 i386 <http://releases.ubuntu.com/oneiric/ubuntu-11.10-beta1-desktop-i386.iso>

1. Burn the image to CD.
2. Start the computer from the CD.

What happens: A blinking cursor appears in the top corner of the screen, and nothing else.

What should happen: Ubuntu should start up from the CD.

This has happened with both AMD64+Mac and i386 images, burned on two different CDs, with two different disc burners. So the problem isn't the image validity, the disc, or the burner.

Do you even see the boot screen? If not, this is a syslinux bug. (I expect it will only be fixable if a boot expert sits down with the hardware, unless it's already been fixed upstream ...)

affects: ubuntu-cdimage → syslinux (Ubuntu)

No, it doesn't get as far as the boot screen. No "ISOLINUX" or anything, just a blinking cursor.
