live image does not boot: "Missing parameter in configuration file"

I created a bootable thumb drive from kubuntu-15.04-beta1-desktop-amd64.iso (using usb-creator-gtk on an Ubuntu 14.04.2 system) and used it to boot an HP EliteBook 8440p.

The HP displayed the message
        Missing parameter in configuration file. Keyword: path
and then repeatedly displayed
        gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R image
        boot:

I entered the command "help", and then Enter after the help menu displayed. This lead to successful a start-up.

Same problem with xubutu & ubuntu 15.04 (Download by torrent).
Never problem to boot on USB key normally, my last install is 27July 2015.

Could you please run apport-collect 1426738 from the system on which you were creating the usb drive?

That's probably not what you were hoping for.

Note that, due to updates over time, the system now runs "Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.13.0-62-generic x86_64)".

This is more of the same issue: gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R image, caused by running syslinux on an older version of Ubuntu than the image that should be written. Changes in syslinux require using the version from the image as much as possible.
