Bug Description

[Availability]
To be available on s390x

[Rationale]
Required to support d-i on s390x. It aids configuration of s390 specific hardware.

[Security]
Installer component, thus it's pure shell, initramfs hooks, udev rules.
No known vulnerabilities.
Does ship binaries in sbin.

[Quality assurance]
No configuration / documentation required, installer simply uses this package correctly.
No debconf questions.
Not long-term bugs.
Only one, not important (opinion) bug open.
Well maintained by s390x porters in Debian.
Deals with supportable exotic hardware.
No test-suite available.
No watch file, debian native upstream.

[Dependencies]
All dependencies are in main

[Standards compliance]
Complaint.

[Maintenance]
Foundations & xnox

[Background information]
needed to suport d-i on s390x and install onto DASD.

I see one copyright issue on that package (and have some remarks), otherwise, the rest looks fine to me:

We need to have an explicit "upstream" copyright for this native package (as it doesn't only ship debian/ dir, debian/copyright isn't really the copyright file for this entire package). There is none and any header having copyright on those functions, so we can't use the card of "obvious license" which can prevent not shipping a COPYING or LICENSE file here IMHO.

Not a blocker, but some remarks:
- Any reason this package is limitted to only s390 or 390x (I guess it is regarding the chandev sysconfigs)? Maybe the binary package description should reflect this in that case?
- I would prefer that most of our package entering main use --fail-missing, any way to push that to debian?
- Same, would be cool to move it to source format 3 if possible
- finally ,would be nice to get rid of those warnings:
W: sysconfig source: dh-clean-k-is-deprecated
W: sysconfig source: debian-rules-missing-recommended-target build-arch
W: sysconfig source: debian-rules-missing-recommended-target build-indep

Changed in sysconfig (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

For the record: despite no message on this bug report, I saw that one is already promoted to main.

I filed bug 1541007, which I think is a packaging quality question.

=> This package deals with CCW bus which is only available on s390[x] systems. Indeed package description is quite minimal, for a key package which one cannot boot without. However, it seems like this is based on e.g. suse stuff, which could have been working on other architectures for other things too. Meh. The description should be improved.

=> Well.... =) i guess we could reshuffle everything, but at the moment the source package, is pretty much the resultant .deb packages, sans permutations.

- Format 3 would be nice yes.

- Packaging to be "normal" would be good too.

Fixed most of the stuff.
DId not move scripts location as per Robie, will follow up separate.
Did not change copyright file yet, will follow up in debian.

Still needs copyright changed, before we can put this MIR to rest.

I think copyright is now fixed... because I have purged most of the things out of this package.

It now really ships just the initramfs-tools hooks written by debian.
