The newest version of synergy, ie the beta version seems to be fixing this issue!
I installed beta(1.4.8 Beta) on both my systems and it works fine! :)

Ubuntu(12.04 LTS) - client
Windows 7 x86 Professional - server

I can confirm that using 1.4.8 beta on both client and server seems to fix this issue. I tried to upgrade just my windows machine first and it didn't fix the issue but upgrading both to the beta worked great.

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS - client
Windows 7 x86 Home Premium - server

Dumb question, as I'm fairly new to Ubuntu (not linux), when you download the beta is that from the synergy web site or is there a beta repo (Something comparable to fedora rawhide)?

Same problem, upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 and ctrl, shift, alt etc all disconnected my synergy session. I upgraded to 1.4.8 client on ubuntu and server on windows64 and now works! Thanks.

So I too compiled 1.4.8 and it resolved my issues.

However when starting synergyc at the lightdm greeter the problem persists where pressing ctrl, shift, alt will cause a disconnect (admittedly not that big an issue but interesting)

Exact same problem. Upgrading to 1.4.8 beta fixed problem, but only when installed on both server and client (tried just client first with no change).

server: Win7 Pro 32bit
client: Ubuntu 12.04 32bit (upgraded incrementally from 10.04, if that's relevant)

Upgrading to 1.4.8 on all computers solved this issue for me as well.

I can also confirm that I had this issue on synergyc 1.3.8 and the upgrade to 1.4.8 package from the synergy website on both my Ubuntu laptop and Windows 7 desktop fixed it.

Ubuntu 12.04 is LTS. The issue should be fixed by now.
Looks like other users already found the solution.
Please be kind and apply the fix.
