Bug Description

This is on Unity 2D and Bug #780803 is at least tangentially related. Synergyc is connected to server through an ssh tunnel (which I set up according to http://ur1.ca/7g6o9#), with client positioned left of the server.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Bring mouse cursor from server screen to client screen.
2. Press Super on server keyboard.
3. Bring mouse cursor back to server screen.

What happens:
Synergyc dies with a segfault:
segfault at 8b0a75c8 ip 0062fbf2 sp bff05108 error 4 in libstdc++.so.6.0.16[5d8000+d8000]

(Also, pressing Super at step 2 brings up launcher on server, not on client - that's probably Bug #780803 manifesting on U2D.)

With both client and the server upgraded to Synergy 1.4.5 Beta from Synergy's download page, the crash no longer occurs.

I can either confirm this bug or report a very very similar one since the upgrade in Precise.

Whenever I press shift, synergys will simply die with a segfault. Downgrading back to 1.3.6 fixes it.

Changed in synergy (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → High
status: New → Triaged

I meant synergyc, not synergys (both client and server are running 1.3.8)

Bumped priority to High as that essentially makes synergy unusable. Marked as Triaged as it's confirmed to be a synergy bug (downgrading fixes it).

Also subscribed the uploader and the sponsor of the currently broken package.
I'll wait till the Feature Freeze for a fix and if nobody fixed it, will revert to 1.3.6 by uploading it as 1.3.8-1ubuntu1+really-1.3.6-0ubuntu1 (the ugly way of reverting to a working upstream version).

Hi,
It might be worth checking the upstream 1.3.x synergy tree; the version
I uploaded cherry picked a patch for a copy/paste segfault from the upstream
bug database (and arguably could have picked the version in the upstream tree).

I very rarely use Super hence hadn't noticed, but I doubt the ubuntu1
fix broke it, but it might be worth checking the 1.3.8-1 without my patch.

I won't get a chance to look at it until this weekend.

Dave

I can't reproduce the bug here. Can you get a backtrace to see if it matches Jani's ? (Jani's seem a bit touchy; lots of warnings about mismatched crc's in the debug libs).

Here another one with that error.
If I download the available debs from http://synergy-foss.org/download/ (version 1.4.6) the problem gets solves.
