Bug Description

The title says it all really. synergy is near useless because it lags so badly that it seems it's not even working.

I am seeing this as well. It's a fair bet this is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synergy/+bug/91540 turning up again.

Same here. Too laggy to use. I concur, probably that old bug popping up again.

I have also been noticing what HAS to be the most annoying bug of all:
it seems rapid movement of the cursor causes it to move the mouse to a
random position on the screen, or to a different monitor. This seems
to happen on a pretty frequent basis as well.

Happens with Ubuntu as server, OS X as client. I think I read
somewhere also that having multiple macs may be related to this. I
have 2 connected to my ubuntu box as server.

EXTREMELY annoying since it happens like every 10 minutes or less.

I am also seeing this bug. Using Windows (1.3.1) as synergy server and have two Kubuntu machines connecting to it (one 7.04 and one recently upgraded to 8.04 from 7.10). Synergy on the newly upgraded Kubuntu 8.04 machine lags so terribly that it make synergy useless. I tried re-compiling (make clean ; ./configure ; make ; sudo make install) but that didn't make any difference.

I just upgraded two machines to 8.04 (from 7.10). I've seeing horrible lag in synergy when moving my mouse from the server machine onto the client machine. Mouse can freeze for up to 10 seconds. Agreed that this performance has rendered synergy useless.

I just upgraded my 7.10 distribution to 8.04. I also am constantly experiencing this new problem. The synergy server is running Arch Linux, so this seems from what everyone is saying to happen no matter what the server is running. I have extreme lag and I can't use it now.

Just to underline the point, I'm running Synergy server on Windows XP SP2 and the client on Ubuntu 8.04, and anything on the client is lagging very badly. CPU barely in use.

Easy fix for me... Run synergy on your 8.04 machine as root (sudo) ie: sudo synergyc serverip

Not sure of the security issues regarding running it as root, however it got me back in business after the upgrade to 8.04. Enjoy

Running Synergy as root worked for me too...

Me too, synergy as root is a good workaround for now.
Finally, the Synergy is working, what a relief.
