No birthdays shown by gbirthday

Birthday information within the relevant interval is present in evolution database and shown by evolution and gnome clock applet.
gbirthday does not show any birthdays.

Could you please advise which additional information I may provide to make the description more specific?

gbirthday behaves as described above when I got all my contacts from a SyncML server via syncevolution. When I edit a contact (no necessarily the birthday), the birthday is suddenly shown, that is, only for this contact.

sounds like a bug in syncevolution to me. requesting triage in syncevolution.

I also a similar problem, but I do not use syncevolution. I have 3 friends with birthdays a couple of days ago, but gbirthday does not display their names. Editing the gbirthday script and uncommenting the print statement at

      ano = sDate.year - int(ano)

      temporal = [icono, bday, name, str(d), d, sDate.month, sDate.day, ano]
      # print temporal
      cumplelista.append(temporal)

I get the output

(slightly anonymised with hashes), so the program is definitely reading the data, but there are only the icons in the gbirthday display, as in the attached.
