Bug Description

# uname -a
Linux bombyx-dellm65 2.6.24-21-generic #1 SMP Mon Aug 25 16:57:51 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Fully updated system with kubuntu 8.04, KDE 3.5.9
Installed : opensync, synce-hal, opensync-plugin-evolution, opensync-plugin-synce, multisynt-tools, multisync0.90, kitchensync.

I think that any required thing is installed since I was able to synchronize Evolution with the PDA a few months before, but I stopped using it because opensync created duplicates (calendars and contacts) on both sides. It seems that very similar items (same date and subject, or same name, surname, e-mail, telephone etc) are not matched and opensync creates instead two items. By the way, I shall be interested in any supervised calendar & contact duplicate cleaning software because it takes me 2h to do the job (I made manual cleaning a couple of time before giving up).

The PDA with windows mobile 5 is correctly recognized when plugged in the USB.
synce-sync-engine recognizes it and parses some config file but fails to setup a partnership
A pingable IP address (164.x.x.x) is affected to rndis0 (allow-hotplug and iface rndis0 inet dhcp in /etc/network/interfaces)
WM5: Activesync has been set up to use Rndis, no password
"sudo ufw status" shows no firewall loaded
synce-pls, synce-pstatus and synce-list-programs work
"synce-list-partnerships" gives two partnerships with the same PC (named bombyx-dellm65)
"synce-matchmaker create" succeeds to set the partnership on #2
"msynctool --sync synce-sync --conflict 2" ends up after listing all the changes from Evolution with the message
  "All clients have disconnected
The sync failed: Unable to read from one of the members
Error synchronizing: Unable to read from one of the members
   Pipe closed! Exiting.
   Pipe closed! Exiting."
"synce-kpm" fails to show in the trayicon and reports a mixed QT4 version.
  "Running dataserver
   running the GUI Part
   Cannot mix incompatible Qt libraries"

The Synce plugin seems to be disconnected (as also reported by Kitchensync and multisync0.90) and does not send any information to msynctool (?). I cannot see exactly what is going wrong.

Jolay

Same issue here. Looking a bit further I found the following in messages file:

osplugin[26321]: segfault at 0 ip b7bf92c3 sp bfd0acac error 4 in libc-2.8.90.so[b7b82000+158000]

Tried reloading the libc library as well as the entire opensync/synce set.

This is the output form the sync:

NoBoundPartnership: org.synce.SyncEngine.Error.NoBoundPartnership:

Member 1 of type synce-opensync-plugin had an error while getting changes: Error during get_changeinfo() method
DEBUG:SynCE:disconnect() called
Member 1 of type synce-opensync-plugin just disconnected
All clients have disconnected
The sync failed: Unable to read from one of the members
DEBUG:SynCE:finalize() called
Error while synchronizing: Unable to read from one of the members

From other reports this would appear to have started to happen after a recent update but noone can pinpoint when and what.

Probably completely different problems...

jolay, synce-matchmaker is for creating partnerships on old, pre WM5 devices, use synce-create-partnership. You'll be in such a mess now that you should start again.

Gavin, you don't have a partnership available, org.synce.SyncEngine.Error.NoBoundPartnership, use synce-create-partnership.

Thank you for the hint Mark,

I gave up with synce after reinstalling my linux box, but I shall give a try
when I have time for that since I still use my ipaq. Synce is still to my
opinion a key software.

Best regards,
Jolay
