Bug Description

In the usual update cycle, I press reload, Mark All Upgrades, then Apply. I get
a list of packages that will be upgraded, and I can elect to also see from what
version, to what version the upgrade is happening.

What I miss is to be able to mark a package in the list and see the description
of it. Sometimes you get a long list of pretty obscure packages mark for
upgrading, and I have no idea what they are, or even what part of the system
they will affect. It's not that I'd want to hold the upgrade or anything, but I
just would like to be able to find out what, exactly is being upgraded.

From an UI perspective, I could see two ways: Either show the corresponding
package in the main window when it is marked in the upgrade dialogue, or have a
info pane in the upgrade dialogue, just as in the main window. Not sure at this
point which would be the better option.

We are working on a special application to do exactly this. It will only have
the ability to upgrade your system. If you want to use synaptic for that, you
can choose "custom" and then "marked changes" to see what the dist-upgrade wants
to change.

hope this helps,
 Michael
