Bug Description
Synaptic does not start via the GUI. It does not work in gnome-shell and it does not work in unity. No password dialog can be seen, nothing happens...
It does work with terminal via "gksudo synaptic"

This works for me with the same version of synaptic on Oneiric in Unity 2D.
