Bug Description

Nothing prevent the user to select redundant repositories, for example
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ warty main restricted universe
and
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ warty main restricted

Errors only appears while updating.

Solutions:
1- Avoid selection of redundant repositories (some repositories may be exclusive
for example)
or
2- Do not bother the user with redundant errors in update

This is an unfortunate side effect of the way that apt's sources.list was
designed, as contrasted with how we lay out our archive. It may be that there
is a way to solve this in synaptic, but it may need to be a
documentation/warning issue

Is this bug still relevant ? Must it be marked as WONTFIX ?

It is still a problem. It dosn't happen that often anymore because the current repository adding tool is more clever. But it is still possible to have duplicated entries. Some code in the gnome-software-properties needs to be written to check and remove duplicates.

Cheers,
 Michael

This is fixed in the current apt, it will detect duplicated urls and not fetch them twice.
