Bug Description
Binary package hint: synaptic
When updating or installing software using synaptic package manager, it sometimes fails because packages database gets locked in the middle of installation, possibly by update manager. Synaptic should lock the database when starting the installation and unlock when it is complete, not lock before each separate package is being installed and unlock when it is installed and than lock-unlock again a again.

Happend to me again today. This is so annoying and you should really do something about it. Even waiting for application that created the lock to exit would be better than just print "database locked" with no other information like "you need to run manually blahblah to fix your packages". Or
