Synaptic locks when sorting packages by "supported by canonical" column

Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

How to reproduce:
Launch synaptic package manager
Click "Supported by Canonical" column as you would want to sort packages by it.

What happens:
Synaptic stops responding, possibly locked in infinite loop somewhere (sort function?)

I found out that when I wait like 1 minute it starts responding again. It seems that the sorting function is very very very slow. Sorting _all_ packages by name takes like 1 second, but sorting by "Supported by Canonical" takes 1 minute ... one would say that sorting by name must be much slower than sorting by some kind of boolean value. Something really wrong with that sort function.

Thanks for your report. This is a known issue reported in bug 165181 and a fix is waiting for a merge. I'm marking this report as duplicate.
