Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

Open the synaptic manager, type "paint" into quick search. Few packages are found, gpaint between them, but "kolourpaint" does not show. After writing "kol" .. the kolourpaint is shown.

I think that kolourpaint package should be found , when typing "paint".

thanks,bq

I am having a similar problem with Synaptic 0.62.5 on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit.
Using the "All" list and entering "gmp" in Quick Search I see several entries with gmp both starting with the text and containing the text, such as libgmp3-doc. However, I don't see libgmp3c2 which is installed. It is not shown at all.

If I change the Quick Search text to "libgmp" I now see the libgmp3c2 as well as others.

libgmp3c2 should show up in both listings!

The attached images show this clearly.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.

I've tried recreating this bug with Precise and was unable to, given the information you've provided. For me searching for paint returns both gpaint and kolourpaint, however the second problem (from the comments) is still there, searching for gmp does not return a list with the libgmp10 package included, so I am confirming this issue.
