Cannot clear quick search field using delete button

Bug Description
Synaptic package manager marks (in a very unwanted response) the selected package to be uninstalled when quick search is used and the delete key is used when the quick search field is in focus.
To reproduce:
type in ubuntu-desktop in synaptic
click on the ubuntu-desktop package.
bring the quick search field into focus by clicking it and selecting the text
now press delete.
ubuntu-desktop package is marked for removal when I wanted to stop searching for ubuntu-desktop.
Can lead to unwanted mistakes.
