Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

Hi,

in the settings->preferences menu is an select option "System upgrade" with three selectable values, but neither GUI nor online help tell, whats the meaning of these options. e. g. what's the difference between a "default upgrade" and a "smart upgrade"?

regards

I also find there's no mention of the option's purpose, either via tooltip, online help, man page, or on the website the online help leads to. Ubuntu does have a wiki page which explains the options, though:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticHowto#How%20to%20keep%20your%20system%20up-to-date,%20including%20the%20Kernel

I don't see evidence of an upstream bug tracker, though. Only the development mailing list, which looks pretty dead.
