Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

When you type a partial package name, like abiwor, it doesn't find abiword. This becomes even more annoying if you look for package which turn out to have versions in the package names: e.g. libaio doesn't return libaio1.

Thank you for taking the time to request this package and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately you have not provided enough information for a developer to start packaging this application. Please feel free to reopen or create a new report with more details about this problem.

Sorry, what information exactly are you missing? Why are you setting the status to incomplete?

Did you read the bug report? It states the exact (simple) way to reproduce it. It occurred on the intrepid development version at that time, I can't test it right now because of the troubles karmic has with my videocard.

Dear Wouter of course I did, for that reason I wrote if you could post some details like your ubuntu and package version (exactly), while I didn't have this basic information I can't test it ;)

Wouter, I second Kamus. I'm unable to reproduce it in Intreprid, karmic or lucid. If it's still an issue, you could try to re-index the search database. Open a terminal and run:
$ sudo update-apt-xapian-index

Thanks.

Anyway quicksearch is broken, if it's not with abiw there are many exemples where it's not working. Marking as dup of bug 384454
