Bug Description
If I launch software update and go into the preferences and click add and then
check off more repositories to add to the list, it doesn't work. I click the
checkboxes next to universe and multiverse, click OK and then click add again
and they are unchecked. Even if I click OK to get out of the preferences and it
asks me if I want to reload the repositories, it hasn't saved that preference
(as I can see by going back into the preferences).
I appologise if synaptic isn't the right package to report this for, but it was
the closest one I knew the name to. If you need any information on my computer,
just ask (and if it's a file, put it's location up).

Thanks for your bugreport.
I wonder if this may only be a user-interface problem. If it's only a comopnent
then the component is added to a existing entry in the list. There are just two
new (small) entries under a existing item.
If that is not the case for you (the entries are not there). Please attach your
sources.list so that I can try to reproduce the problem here.
Cheers,
Michael
