Bug Description

This issue is related to
https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/-/issues/22154

There seems to be a rendering issue with wxWidgets apps that use wxAui (e.g. Kicad).
Building and running wxAUI examples from wxWidgets 3.2.8 (e.g., from https://truelogic.org/wordpress/2015/09/27/wxwidgets-using-wxaui/) exhibits the exact same rendering issue

After some time the rendering loop somehow seems to freeze and the canvas is not updated anymore.

Same issue is perfectly reproducible in PrusaSlicer too.

See screenshot: Clicking another tab in "Preferences" does nothing until moving the mouse to the body of the tab (there the options are) and scrolling, then the tab will switch.

To reproduce fast, install PrusaSlicer from flatpak

I'm seeing this behaviour in the deb version of Prusa Slicer, the deb version of Aegisub, the Snap version of Aegisub, and a self-built version of Aegisub. In the case of Aegisub, everything other than the menu bar stops rendering properly after essentially the first frame, with successive updates being sporadic and seemingly random (~once every 10 seconds or so).

May I also add that gnome-shell emits the error: `Frame has assigned frame counter but no frame drawn time` pertaining to the app experiencing the issue.

This also affects use of synaptic on questing, as well as proprietary omnissa-horizon-client.
