Bug Description

Hi. Synaptic's been very unstable lately; so i ran it from console to catch the
problem. Aside from a lot of these:

(synaptic:3408): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_progress_set_percentage: assertion
`percentage >= 0 && percentage <= 1.0' failed

(synaptic:3408): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_draw_pixbuf: assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE
(drawable)' failed

Which dont appear too worrisome, on the crashes I get this:

Gtk-ERROR **: file gtkcontainer.c: line 2447 (gtk_container_propagate_expose):
assertion failed: (child->parent == GTK_WIDGET (container))
aborting...
Trace/breakpoint trap

I'm not sure how to use strace effectively, but given direction I can easily
reproduce the crash (_always_ happens after a minute or two)

Thanks for your bugreport.

I suspect it's some gtk problem. The display code hasn't changed in a while. It
could be a synaptic problem that is only triggered with the new gtk of course.

thanks
 Michael

The problem only seems to occur for me when I hit the search button

Thanks.

This problem turned out to be a bug in gtk2.7. It will be fixed in one of the
next gtk+ releases.

Cheers,
 Michael
