Synaptic package manager not working in 17.10

Bug Description

I installed synaptic package manager via software center in ubuntu 17.10.But unable to launch.It is requesting the password then everything disappeared.

This worked for me and I thank you. Has to be entered at each use. Patch
in Wayland or synaptic would be better. This does solve problem.

I had the same problem also, I ran xhost +si:localuser:root in terminal and all good now. Thanks so much for this help.
