Hi,

save markings only saves what was changed

if you want to save a full list you need to select save markings as and check the checkbox around "save full state, not only changes"

  does this not work ?

Ah. I'm sorry. It's possible that the bottom part of the window with the checkbox got hidden. Yes it works. It was zero length because there were no current markings. I was trying to save everything.

However, might I suggest that a better way would be to have a separate menu item along the lines of "save markings for all installed packages" rather than having the checkbox as an option at the bottom of the window.

My guess is (i.e. no evidence for this) that most people are more likely to want to save the whole state than a few incremental markings.

Perhaps the best option would be, when save markings is chosen, to have a small dialog open asking whether you want all of them or just the current markings.
