Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

I recently installed the beta version of Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 on a machine. I went to enable some proprietary drivers (nvidia-glx-new), but it told me that the package had not been installed. I opened up Synaptic and searched for (nvidia-glx) but it did NOT come up in the results even though all repositories had checks in the boxes. I unchecked the multiverse, then re-checked it, and performed the search again. This time the search found the driver, and I was able to install it.

There are two things that I think can be fixed for easier use.
1) The checkboxes should either not be checked by default, or the other repositories should really be enabled by default. Some users will not think to uncheck then recheck the boxes.

2) The restricted device manager should automatically check the repositories for the drivers that they need so that newbie users won't need to find the drivers themselves.
