I have 2 Lenovo laptops. One has Broadcom BCM4311 & other has Broadcom BCM4312 wifi hardware.
When I boot by Bootable UBUNTU usb, wifi from both laptops get detected & gets connected as well.
But when I install same Ubuntu on Harddisk & boot from Harddisk, wifi & wifi drivers do not work.
Also I have tried various PUPPY linux distro based on Ubuntu, Puppy Linux detects & uses same wifi hardware with exceptional ease.
ONLY issue is with UBUNTU installed in hard disk ... it do not recognise wifi hardware. STA driver is also useless. |

I have same issue for ALL UBUNTU distro I have tried till date 11.04 / 11.10/ 12.04 / 12.10 /13.04 / 13.10 / 14.04 / 14.10
Every time I Install Ubuntu with simple hope that at least in latest distro the issue might have been solved. But I think Ubuntu Developers are just interested in making cosmetic changes & do not want to rectify basic functionality issues.
I have search all internet and I saw thousands of Broadcom users have SAME issue but there is nobody interested in fixing that small bug. Real question is when Puppy linux / fedora etc. distros can recognise same Broadcom Hardware, why cann't UBUNTU ? (That means right CODE is already there we need to just apply that in UBUNTU ... simple ) |
