Unable to check/uncheck repositories in Hoary Preview Synaptic

Bug Description

Apparently the synaptic GUI ignores the user if he unselects a repository. If I
unselect the repository and save, synaptic will correctly comment out the repo
from sources.list. However if I try to select the repo again and save, synaptic
is unable to uncomment the repo from sources.list and thus ignores it. This is
quite a showstopper IMO, so I guess it should be getting some love ;-)

A more complete description of the bug follows (by Ozitraveller) and can be
found in this post at
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?postid=93441#post93441.

I think I've found a bug, or at least a feature.

if the # isn't in the first column :

# deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary universe
# deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary universe

like this. Then any changes made through Synaptic aren't saved.

The problem:

If you start with these 2 lines starting in the first column of the sources.list
file, like this:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary universe
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary universe

Then open Synatic, and the 2 universe lines should be checked.
Uncheck them both, and press ok, and ok on the confirmation dialog too.

And now the lines in sources.list look like this:

#deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary universe
#deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary universe

Now, I've opened Synaptic again, and checked both binary and source in the
universe and pressed ok, and ok on confirmation dialog. And the lines in
sources.list haven't changed.

#deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary universe
#deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hoary universe

What I think is happening:

' #' is prepended rather than '# '.
