search results aren't updated after building quick search index finished

Bug Description

Currently it's possible to type a search term in the quick search text input field while the search index is recreated (indicated by the label above the text input field). When it is finished (indicated by the label) the search result isn't updated leaving the user with the impression that the search result is empty for the updated index as well. Changing one letter in the search query will prove you wrong in many cases.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open `synaptic` with `sudo synaptic` on console or else
2. Make sure the quicksearch feature is installed (that there's a text field left to the search button in the top toolbar).
3. Trigger the rebuilding of the search index (unclear how this is possible within `synaptic`, but devs will know)
4. Type "abc" into the search text field which will display a search result (probably based on the outdated index, but there's no warning or other information about it), then quickly type "def" in the same text field

Expected result:
The packages displayed for the search result of "def" should match the search.

Actual result:
The packages displayed remain the ones for the search for "abc".

Note:
This problem could be avoided if the creation of the search index would be parallelized (currently only uses 1 CPU core) and thus be speed up so that the search UI could be blocked until the index is rebuilt.

Hello again Karl-Philipp,
I am still going through these old bugs.
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with synaptic. You made this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu has been updated since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you let us know, and in the current version, run the following (only once):
apport-collect BUGNUMBER
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

Hi Karl-Philipp,
I just want to clarify the issue for the programmers and I am unable to replicate this situation on my computer.

Could you post the exact steps to reproduce?
For example,
1. Open synaptic
2. click "search" button
3. enter a "..." as a search term
4. while it is searching for the "..." term, change the search term to "...".
5...

Thanks
G
