No icons for synaptic on KDE menus

I have KDE 3.4 installed, and recently I wanted to install a
package. I looked on the KDE menu for Kynaptic or Synaptic were
there, and they weren't. These should be added to the menus.

Sounds odd. Here (pretty standard kubuntu installed yesterday) kynaptic is available in the menu under System.

Having just installed synaptic (via kynaptic) I can confirm, however, that synaptic is not available via the menu (this is
also the case with software from universe - but then again, synaptic is in main, right?).

The kynaptic menu entry is now there:

kynaptic (1:0.55+cvs20050115-0ubuntu5) hoary; urgency=low

  * Add icon files crXX-app-kynaptic.png
  * Add menu entry kynaptic.desktop

Synaptic doesn't have the required .desktop file in /usr/share/applications for it to show in
the k-menu. It has one instead in /usr/share/control-center-2.0/capplets/synaptic.desktop, it
should also install a modified copy of this file to /usr/share/applications probably with
OnlyShowIn=KDE.

this is a synaptic issue, not a kdebase issue.

I uploaded synaptic_0.55+cvs20050330-1 that fixes that problem. Please reopen if
you still don't see a synaptic icon.
