Bug Description

Synaptic 0.81.1
Xubuntu 14.04.1
Intel Xeon 64-bit system
Sun Type-6 keyboard and 3-button USB mouse

This is an enhancement request and may be related to the GUI toolkit being used.

The synaptic vertical scrollbar does not operate like most others, making the use of this utility frustrating.

With most scrollbars, B1 left-clicking anywhere in the gutter above or below the bar, advances the content one page at a time. Synaptic jumps to the location of the cursor.

Most other scrollbars reserve the jump-to-location operation for a middle-mouse click. Synaptic does nothing on B2.

Most other scrollbars do nothing scroll-related on a B3 click. Synaptic performs the typical B1 page advance operation.

It would be good if Synaptic operated like other programs. If there is some desirable reason to maintain the current behavior, then a preference option should be provided to allow the user to map the functions to the desired buttons.

Just checking back. It is now 09-30-19, I'm on Xubuntu 19.04, and this has not yet been addressed in Synaptic 0.84.5.
