synaptic not saving the settings in Settings/Preferences/Distribution

at home I have direct connection. at work I use proxy. I entered the proxy
settings, but now every time I start synaptic it turns back on the proxy
settings by default and doesn't remember any other settings I change. I'm on hoary.

Fixed with the upload of 0.55+cvs20050215-1

Using version 0.55+cvs20050224 of Synaptic Package Manager, settings in
Settings->Preferences->Distribution are not saved properly.

In specific, the selections "Always prefer the highest version" and "Always
prefer the installed version" are saved properly,
but if "Prefer versions from:" is selected, and a distribution is chosen, upon
opening Settings->Preferences->Distribution again,
the the setting reverts to the top item in the list, regardless of which was
actually selected.

Because of this unexpected behavior, I am reopening this bug.

Yes, there was another bug hiding there. It's fixed in my source repository,
it will be part of the next upload.
