segfault error 4 in libapt-pkg.so.4.12.0[7ff0c0c97000+11c000]

After updating from quantal to raring I have many entries in the "Not installed (residual config)" filter of the "Status" view.

Every time I click into the right hand side panel to perform an action on these entries (normally I purge them), the synaptic window closes, and the following line is appended syslog and is visible via dmesg.

The following are from three separate events:
