Crash when trying to select a package

Hi,

Synaptic takes long to become responsive (about one minute) after being started or after reloading the list of packages by clicking the reload button.

Moreover, it also sometimes crashes; for example, it crashed again now, while I was trying to mark a package under "residual config" for removal.
