Sylpheed freezes when fetching mail

When fetching mail from an IMAP server, Sylpheed sometimes freezes irrecoverably. This seems to be related to the option "filter new messages in INBOX on receiving". I don't experience this bug when this option is not checked.

I noticed Sylpheed to be a beta version. Is this a good idea for an Ubuntu LTS release when the final is available?
