I got this error while upgrading from oneiric to precise on my 64-bit principal desktop machine. As a result, I can't run eclipse... I don't know how to work around this, but I *need* eclipse in order to do work.

I have /usr/share linked to /home/share. I don't understand why this makes any difference, but it seems from the reporter's comment tghat it does.

I have /usr/share mapped in this manner because otherwise there would have been insufficient room on the /usr partition for the upgrade. I had to move /usr/share expressly to allow the oneiric->precise upgrade to run.

I suppose that (for some reason) swt-gtk-3.7.jar did not get installed/unpacked properly?
