Bug Description

It looked like these others but I dont know the return code of the error. When I came back on it said do you want to know what happened .. basically I said yes and it gave me the launchpad signin page.

from about Ubuntu: Ubuntu 9.04
                - the Jaunty Jackalope - released in April 2009. and the terminal command gave me the same thing.
apt-cache policy packagename
W: Unable to locate package packagename

Earlier I installed Java. When it come to the screen to click ok the ok is not red. I try this and that to make it red.
Finally it gets red but I am still trying. So i end up clicking yes, then on the one where you have to use the side arrow to make it yes I click no. Then it gives me something to end the installation with no choice but no. So I have to accept it.
(dumb)
Then somehow the installation gives me the same window with the choice not red. I mess around and I still dont know how but it goes red and I click it. I use the side arrow and click yes again and it looks like it is all good.

But Vuze doesnt come up at all when I click it. An IRC buddy tells me Vuze doesnt work anyhow and I go install ctorrent and
go on with my life.

...
There's a crash report icon on my screen later but everything seems to work and I just go on.
...
The system locks up and I power it off and restart.
The crash report comes up and well we've reached the top of this letter again.

Do what you will with this.

I know when I had Ubuntu 6.04 I had a similar thing happen as far as having no idea how to accept the OK and I never could install Java and all my entreaties on Ubuntu forums went for naught.

Hope someone thinks of the naive user end. This should not be like this. All you need is some words in the window bro's.
And THIS BUG has been YEARS IN EXISTENCE.
