sun-java6 (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

the package fails to install only with the GUI... (i used systemsettings - add and remove software on "kubuntu 9.04")

sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre
(64 bit) does the job!

I can confirm this, also for Kubuntu in 64bit. For me it failed when a .deb file I downloaded required Java. Would it be possible this is because of the license that needs to be accepted?

Thomas Weissel (xapient) wrote :

I use the 64 bit version too ,,, and Yes IMHO it is the confirmation dialog that's not caught... this was a problem in adept for several versions.....

Darek Gałecki (dgalecki) wrote :

I can confirm that as a problem with KPackageKit, a new software manager in KDE4's SystemSettings, which is unable to display license dialog with confirmation request. It says about the problem when checking "Details" in installation failure information.

I've succeeded installing sun-java6-jre with Adept.

What KPackageKit says (as I understand, it doesn't matter, but my Kubuntu is 32bit):
