during installation, the installation jus hangs when it gets to the java doc part, i left my pc on the whole night thinking maybe its a really long process but no luck, i just had to restart my pc

Bug Description
i have been tryin to install java on ubuntu 8.10 but it jus keeps hanging mid way the installation and after that my synaptic manager is screwed and now everytime i try to install anything with synaptic the java installation pops up and still goes ahead to hang, help
