Bug Description

Binary package hint: sudo

When attempting to open Synaptic today, I accidentally typed in the wrong password. (I remembered after I typed it that it was wrong). GKsudo disappeared and never came back to prompt me for a second attempt. Also, Synaptic never opened (and the process wasn't running). I re-tried it again with the same result. When I attempted a 3rd time and typed the password correctly, Synaptic opened.

I would expect that GKsudo would prompt me again for a password if I typed in the wrong one, and once I typed in the right one that the application would open.

In case there was any question, this is still an issue with an up-to-date version of lucid

This is reproduced under an up-to-date 32 bit desktop lucid. I feel like this bug was mentioned under a different ticket in #ubuntu-bugs, but I can't find the bug that was mentioned.

Changed in sudo (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

I see that there is a similar description in bug 298217 (reported in 2008), however I think the bug in Lucid is a regression. I do not have this problem in an up-to-date Ubuntu 9.10. If I type in an incorrect password, a new screen comes up stating that I've entered an incorrect password and prompting me to try again. In Lucid, I don't get the second prompt. I will comment on the other bug report also.
