Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
Summary: As discovered in bug #188957 if Update Manager cannot resolve its hostname properly it hangs forever without any notice or warning to the user.
1) Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04
2) update-manager:
Installed: 1:0.87.26
Candidate: 1:0.87.26
Version table:
*** 1:0.87.26 0
500 http://
100 /var/lib/
1:0.87.24 0
500 http://
3) After the Update icon appeared in the notification tray I clicked on it and the Update Manager window appeared. I then clicked on the "Install Updates" button and I expected to be greeted with a password dialog box.
4) The Update Manager window became non-responsive and no password dialog box appeared. This worked fine in Gutsy (although I'm not sure my /etc/hosts file was configured the same way)
